ACP Women's Program October Workshop: Managing Up, Across and Down

ACP's Advisory Council member Martha Johnson shared her management expertise while leading the ACP Women's Program October professional development workshop, Managing Up, Across and Down. As an experienced leader in both the private and public sector, Martha discussed her experiences from her earlier career as a change management consultant to her leadership roles at both governmental and private organizations. The workshop started off with Martha discussing how to effectively communicate up, down and across at any organization. The discussion then moved into the differences between how to effectively communicate in a civilian role compared to in the military hierarchy. Participants were able to ask Martha specific questions about their conflicts with senior leadership, receiving feedback from colleagues and fairness in the workplace.
