ACP Presents: ACP Career Blueprint - Leadership Legacy A BHM Dialogue with Lt. Gen. Charles W. Hooper (RET.)

On February 20th, ACP hosted an engaging Black History Month webinar featuring an inspiring dialogue with ACP Board of Director, Army Lt. Gen. Charles W. Hooper (Ret.). With a distinguished 41-year military career, Lt. Gen Hooper held leading senior-level military-political positions worldwide before joining the Cohen Group as Senior Counselor. Notably, he served as Director of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), overseeing the sale of all US weapons, military equipment, support services and training packages to foreign governments, with responsibility for 20,000 personnel globally and over $50 billion in annual sales.

Lt. Gen. Hooper's career has been focused on US policy in the Indo-Pacific region, particularly the US-China bilateral relationship. He spent seven years in China, including as US Defense Attaché, and served as Senior Country Director for China, Taiwan, and Mongolia Policy in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Additionally, he taught Chines foreign policy at the Naval Postgraduate School and was among the first West Point cadets selected to study Mandarin Chinese, which he still speaks fluently, alongside Arabic.

The webinar centered on providing valuable perspectives on creating welcoming communities for Veterans and fostering their leadership. Lt. Gen. Hooper shared personal life experiences as a guide, advocating for perseverance and self-belief. His presentation underscored the importance of effective leadership and aimed to inspire all viewers.
