The uniformed services are full of anything but uniform people. As we take a moment this month to mark our deep respect for and support of our veterans, we honor how they have protected our democratic society and collectively represent our democratic society.

Veterans are an extremely diverse group. They come from every state and thousands of towns and cities. They bring unique personal stories and represent all manner of backgrounds, religions, races, and ethnicities. They differ in politics and opinions but they are united in their patriotism and commitment to service.

As a nation we are extremely privileged to have armed forces and a veteran community that are of the people, by the people, and for the people.
