Mentors of the Month

July 2026: ACP congratulates Billy Sullivan and Jack McGourty

July 1, 2026
“It is my privilege to nominate my mentor, Billy Sullivan, for ACP Mentor of the Month. After nearly 16 years of service in the Marine Corps, I have transitioned into a Program Manager role within the defense industry. While I am confident in my ability to lead and solve complex problems, I have felt like a fish out of water in corporate culture, workplace language, and understanding how large companies operate.

Billy’s experience in supply chain and logistics management at Unilever, as well as his broader experience in corporate America, has been critical to my early success. Rather than following a rigid agenda, he allows each discussion to focus on whatever challenge I am facing at the time. As a result, Billy has become a trusted sounding board for the challenges that come with transitioning into corporate America.Whether we are discussing the fundamentals of supply chain, how to navigate and foster strong workplace relationships, or dealing with unanticipated new situations, Billy consistently provides practical advice and unbiased feedback. Having a mentor from outside my company and industry has allowed me to feel comfortable enough to ask candid questions and receive objective guidance without worrying about losing credibility within my environment.

His mentorship has built confidence in my new career and taught me that it is okay to ask questions, continue to be direct, and invest time in learning from others. I have become more comfortable building relationships across my organization and navigating this new professional environment.

I am forever grateful for his mentorship and the time he invests in veterans like me.”

“I am proud to nominate Dr. Jack McGourty for ACP Mentor of the Month because his mentorship has genuinely changed the way I approach both my career and my own potential.
From the beginning, Dr. Jack has gone beyond simply giving professional advice. He has intentionally invested his time, perspective, and encouragement into helping me grow with more confidence and clarity. One of the things that makes him stand out is his ability to challenge people to think bigger. Instead of just providing answers, he asks the right questions, pushes you to see opportunities differently, and helps you approach challenges more strategically.

Whether discussing career growth, leadership, or long-term goals, he consistently creates an environment where I feel supported, motivated, and encouraged to keep growing. During moments of uncertainty, his guidance and perspective have helped me refocus and move forward with greater confidence.

He genuinely cares about the success of the people he mentors, and that impact extends far beyond career advice alone.

Because of his mentorship, I now approach opportunities with a stronger mindset, more confidence, and a clearer vision for my future. Dr. Jack truly embodies what ACP mentorship is all about, and I wholeheartedly nominate him for Mentor of the Month.”
