Steve Miller

After doing deals in corporate and building M&A practices in the Big-4 and McKinsey, Steve is scaling another M&A offering at boutique consulting firm Ankura.  He is a former NASA engineer, MBA and law graduate with 35 years of corporate and consulting experience including 30+ years providing integration, separation, JV, diligence, valuation and negotiations support to 300+ deals. Steve began doing large scale international M&A in 1996 for Pennzoil and Unocal, ultimately leading a corporate development team before entering consulting in 2000. Steve’s focus is advising senior executives across the full transaction cycle in addition to C-Level strategy development, restructuring and operational transformation.
As the son of a US Army Veteran Steve was raised with deep respect for the men and women of our military. His passion for mentoring Veterans, however, was born out building his first operational M&A practice from scratch as national lead partner at KPMG. Rapidly growing to scale required doubling headcount in some years. Steve viewed hiring Veterans as a competitive advantage, so he aggressively recruited across all branches of service. Many were entering the private sector for the first time post-MBA which provided hands on experience helping translate skills gained during military service into being a strong consultant.
As Veterans within his team began to refer Steve to other squadmates, his pool of mentees grew organically. This foundation of experience proved invaluable when Steve became involved with ACP at McKinsey and began mentoring through a formal program. On a personal note, Steve and his wife, Marcia, reside near Houston and have two college-aged sons.
