
Sheila Casey

A results-oriented leader, Sheila has built a long and successful career managing dynamic organizations at the intersection of media, government, and Veteran affairs during periods of significant change. She brings proven impact at the C-suite and Board level, leading diverse programs and initiatives that drive growth, profitability, and improved quality of life for active military members, Veterans, and their families.
Most recently, Sheila served as Special Assistant to the President and Director of Joining Forces, the First Lady’s initiative supporting military and Veteran families, caregivers, and survivors. Previously, she was Chief Operating Officer at CPR Media and Pluribus News, a digital start-up focused on state-level policy issues. Sheila also served for more than 20 years as Chief Operating Officer of The Hill, leading Finance and Human Resources during a period of rapid growth. As part of the executive leadership team, she helped transform the organization from a weekly print newspaper into a multi-media digital platform recognized for its critical political and policy coverage, resulting in more than 4000% revenue growth and a 500% increase in headcount. Sheila began her career in public accounting.
Throughout her career, Sheila has been a tireless advocate for military members and their families. A Military Spouse of more than 40 years, she has lived in the U.S., Europe, and Egypt and has a deep appreciation for the role of strong family life in overall military effectiveness. This experience and commitment have made her a valued contributor to military-focused boards at the state, national, and global levels. She previously served as Board Chair of Blue Star Families and Treasurer of the Washington Press Club Foundation. She currently serves on the boards of Easterseals DC MD VA and The War Horse, and on the advisory board of the Military Child Education Coalition, and is a member of the Leadership Council of the Bob Woodruff Foundation.
Sheila has received numerous awards recognizing her contributions to the military community, including being a two-time recipient of the Defense Distinguished Civilian Service Medal, the Department of Defense’s highest civilian honor. She has also received the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Impact Award for Lifetime Achievement and the Order of the White Plume for her contributions to enhancing the quality of life for Army families.
