“’I expect myself to know everything.’”
That’s something Torrey Price shared early in our mentorship — not as a point of pride, but as a reflection of the standard he holds himself to. At the time, he had only been in his role for a short period, yet he was already pushing himself to operate at the level of a seasoned expert. What stood out wasn’t the expectation itself, but what he chose to do with it.
From our very first session, Torrey showed up prepared, engaged, and ready to do the work. As a transitioning service member, he was focused on translating his military experience into a clear and compelling civilian story. Together, we worked through building his career narrative, identifying transferable skills, refining his resume, and developing a confident, authentic voice. Torrey didn’t just take feedback — he put it into practice immediately, continuously improving with each conversation.
That same drive showed up in how he approached his growth on the job. Rather than being discouraged by what he didn’t yet know, Torrey leaned in. He asked thoughtful questions, sought clarity, and committed himself to becoming a trusted subject matter expert — especially as he prepares for a major upcoming implementation. Where others might hesitate, Torrey steps forward with intention and ownership.
His approach carried directly into his interview journey. Through mock interviews and real-world experiences, he reflected, adjusted, and sharpened his approach each time. Every step became an opportunity to improve, and that consistency ultimately led him to secure his next role and confidently step into this new chapter of his career.
At the same time, Torrey is navigating a season of significant life transition. He is a dedicated father, supporting his wife through the final months of her military service, while preparing to move his family to a new state and community. Despite these demands, he has remained fully present in our mentorship — a testament to his discipline, his priorities, and his commitment to growth.
Torrey is not just working toward a career transition — he is building a standard for himself and rising to meet it every day. His humility, drive, and follow-through make him an exceptional example of what this program represents. I have no doubt his story will inspire others to lean in, embrace the process, and hold themselves to a higher standard.
