On April 9th, ACP hosted a discussion in celebration of National Volunteer Month focused on the impact of mentorship within the cybersecurity field. The session featured Andrew Schoka (Co-Founder & CEO, Hardshell), Brandon S. (Information Security Engineer, UnitedHealth Group), and Joshua Stringham (Security Advisor II, CrowdStrike), who shared their experiences as both former Protégés and current Mentors.
The speakers explored how mentorship supports Veterans and Military Spouses transitioning into cybersecurity, offering practical insights and strategies for breaking into the field. They also highlighted the value of mentorship as a two-way experience that fosters growth, builds confidence, and creates a sense of purpose for both Mentors and Protégés.
