Eligible Veterans: Those who have served on active duty since 2001 as well as the spouses of those service members wounded or killed in action. Those with service-connected disabilities will be given preference.
Eligible Mentors: Only those individuals associated with our Participating Institutions.
Application Process
Step 1: All prospective Mentors and Protégés must complete the online application. Information from the application is used to determine the strength of the candidate for the program.
Step 2: ACP Staff reviews each application and contact those who have been selected for an interview. ACP Staff will conduct a phone interview with selected candidates prior to accepting them for a mentorship. The purpose of this interview is to obtain more information about the Protégé’s career interests and matching preferences. Unresponsive candidates will not be accepted to the program.
Step 3: ACP Staff determines the best possible match between Mentors and Protégés.
Matching Process
Mentors and Protégés are matched based on their program preference, matching preferences, and career interests which are obtained from the application and interview. ACP makes matches based on a Protégé’s career goals and interests and the professional experience of the Mentor. Mentor and Protégé are introduced via email after which they begin their mentoring dialogue. The ACP Mentoring Handbook is provided at the outset of the mentorship to help participants create a mutually beneficial mentoring relationship.
ACP endeavors to match Mentors with Protégés on a quarterly basis. If accepted to the program, an ACP staff member will provide an approximate timeline for upcoming matches. If you have questions about the status of your application, please contact ACP at info@acp-usa.org.
