For more than two decades, Allan Luks has led major nonprofit institutions, receiving significant national and international recognition. Allan Luks has a J.D. from Georgetown University and was a Peace Corps volunteer in Venezuela. In addition, he was a community action lawyer for the Children’s Aid Society, and Associate Director for a $2 billion inner-city investment fund. He later became an executive officer for the New York office of RAND, a leading think tank.  

He worked with the Alcoholism Council of New York, followed by The Institute for the Advancement of Health.  In 1990, Allan became the Executive Director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City, the oldest and largest mentoring organization in America.

Recently, Allan Luks established the Center for Non-Profit Leadership at Fordham University and serves as the Center’s director. Mr. Luks has been widely published, including his books, The Healing Power of Doing Good and Will America Sober Up? and over 100 articles on social and health issues.

Mr. Luks has been the recipient of many awards for his leadership in the non-profit sector, including being selected by Crain’s New York Business as ‘Nonprofit Leader of the Year’.
